Chapter 319: About Singling Friday with voluntary Fasting
Hadith 1011: Hadith 1011
۱۰۱۱ - عَنْ عَنْ أَبِي أَبِي هُرَيْرَة هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيََََُُِِّّّّّّّّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : : لَا تَخْصَوا لَيْلَةَ الجُمُعَةِ بِقِيَامِ ، مِنْ بَيْنِ اللَّيَالِي ، وَلَاَ تَخُصوا يَوْمَ الجُمُعَةِ بِصِيَامٍ ، مِنْ بَيْنَ الْأَيٌَُّّّامِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّ يَكُونَ فِي صَوْمٍ يَصُومُهُ أَحَدُكُمْ رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ
Translation: 1011. Narrated Abu-Huraira; ' The Prophet said: " Do not single out the night (preceding) Friday among the nights for prayer and do not single out Friday among the days for fasting, unless it concurred with a day one is accustomed to observe fasting on it. " (Muslim)
Hadith 1012: Hadith 1012
۱۰۱۲ - عَنْهُ أَيٌُّّضاً قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُوَلَاللَّهُ ) . : لَا يَصُومِنْ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الجُمُعَة ، إِلَّا أَنَّ يَصُومَ يَوْمًا قَبْلَهُ ، أَوْ يَوْمًا بَعْدَهُ مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ
Translation: 1012. Narrated Abu-Huraira Allah's Messenger ﷺ said: " None of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts (it together with) a day before it or a day after it. " (Agreed upon).
Hadith 1013: Hadith 1013
۱۰۱۳ - عَنْ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتِ الحَارِثِ ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ ) . عَنْهَا : أَنَّ النَّبِيََََُُِّّّّّّّ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَهِيَ صَائِمَةٌ ، فَقَالَ : ( أَصْمْتِ أَمْسِ ) . قَالَتْ : لَا ، قَالَ : ( تُرِيدِينَ أَنْ تَصُومِي غَدًا . قَالَتْ : لَا ، قَالَ : ( فَأَفْطِرِي ) . رواه البخاري
Translation: 1013. Narrated Abu-Ayyoob; ' The Prophet visited Jowayriyah bint Al Harith may Allah be pleased with her on Friday and she was observing (voluntary) fasting. He asked her: " Did you observe fasting yesterday? " She said; ' No. ' He said: " Do you intend to observe fasting tomorrow? " She said; ' No. " He said: " Then break your fasting. " (Bukhari).
