Chapter 206: About the Obligation of Curbing the Fasting Person's Tongue
Hadith 676: Hadith 676
٦٧٦- عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : : ( الصيامُ جُنَّةٌ ، فَلَا يَرْقُ وَلَا يَجْهَلْ ، وَإِنِ امْرُؤٌ قَاتَلَهُ أَوْ شَاتَمَهُ ، فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ مَرَتَيْنِ وَالَّذِي نفسي بيده ، لَخُلُوفُ فَم الصائم أطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ تَعَالَى مِنْ رِيحٍ الْمَسكَ ، يَتْرُكُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أجلِي ، الصيامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزي به ، وَالحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أمْثَالِهَا ) . رواه البخاري
Translation: 676. Narrated Abu-Huraira: " Allah's Messenger said: " Observing fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter from Hellfire). So a person observing the fast should avoid sexual acts and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody quarrels with him or abuses him, he should say to him twice: ' I am observing fasting. " The Prophet ﷺ added: “ By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming from the mouth of a person observing fasting is better with Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person): ' He has left his food, drink, and desires for My sake. Fasting is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times. " (Bukhari)
Hadith 677: Hadith 677
٦٧٧ - عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهِ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُوَلَاللَّهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ( مِنْ لَمْ يَدَعْ قَولَ الزورِ وَالٍعَمَلَ بِهِ ، فَلَيْسَ اللَّهِ حَاجَةٌ في أَنَّ يَدَعَ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ ) . رواه البخاري
Translation: 677. Narrated Abu-Huraira: ' The Prophet said: " Whoever does not give up lying speech (false statements) and acting on those lies and evil actions, etc., Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (Allah will not accept his fasting). " " " (Bukhari)
