Riyad-us-Saliheen — Chapter 147: About Hurrying with the Funeral

Chapter Introduction

١٤٧ـ باب فى الإسراع بالجنازة

٤٨٢ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيََََُُِِّّّّّّّّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : : ( أَسْرِعُوا بِالْجَنَازَةِ ، فَإِنْ تَكُ صَالِحَةً فَخَيْرٌ تُقَدَمُونَهَا إليه ، وَإِنْ يَك سوى ذلك ، فَشَرٌ تَضَعُونَهُ عَنْ رِقَابِكُمْ )

رواه البخاري

Translation: The Messenger of Allah said as:

Hadith 482: Hadith 482

482. Narrated by Abu-Huraira: ' The Prophet said: " Hurry with the dead body for if it was righteous, you are forwarding it to a good thing, and if it was otherwise then you are putting off an evil down your necks. ” (Bukhari)

Hadith 483: Hadith 483

٤٨٣- عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الخُدْرِيّ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهُ ) . صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : ( إِذَا وُضِعَتِ الْجَنَارَةُ ، وَاحْتَمَلَهَا الرِّجَالُ عَلَى أَعْنَاقِهِمْ ، فَإِنْ كَانَتْ صَالِحَةً قَالَتْ : قَدَّمُونِي ، وَإِنْ كَانَتْ غَيْرَ صَالِحَة قَالَتْ يَا وَيْلَهَا ، أَيٌُّّنَ يَذْهَبُونَ بِهَا ، يَسْمَعُ صَوْتَهَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا الْإِنْسَانِ ، وَلَوْ سَمِعَهُ صَعِقَ ) . رواه البخاري

Translation: 483. Narrated Abu-Sa'eed Al-Khudri رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ : * Allah's Messenger said: " When the body is ready and the men carry it on their shoulders, if the deceased was righteous it will say: ' Present me (hurriedly), ' and if he was not righteous it will say: ' Woe to it (me)! Where are they taking it (me)? ' Its voice is heard by everything except mankind and if he heard it he would fall unconscious. " (Bukhari)
