Chapter 79: About the Forbiddance of Asking for a Ruling Position

Chapter Introduction

۷۹ ـ باب في النهي عن سؤال الإمارة

Translation: Allah said:

الْقُرْآنُ الْكَرِيمُسُورَةُ القَصَصِ (28:83)
تِلْكَ الدَّارُ الْآخِرَةُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوًّا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فَسَادًا
( سُورَةُ القَصَصِ (28:83) )

Translation: " That home of the Hereafter (Paradise), We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the pious. *** (28: 83)

Hadith 313: Hadith 313

۳۱۳- عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ ) . عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ لِي النَّبِيََََُُِِّّّّّّّّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ( يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْن سَمُرَةَ ، لَا تَسْأَلِ الإمارَةَ ، فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ أُوتِيتَهَا عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ وَكِلْتَ إِلَيْهَا ، وَإِنْ أُوتِيتَهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ مَسْأَلَةٍ أُعِنْتَ عَلَيْهَا ، وَإِذَا حَلَفْتَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ ، فَرَأَيٌُّّتَ غَيْرَهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا ، فَكَفِّرْ عَنْ يَمِينكَ وَأت الذي هُوَ خَيْرٌ ) . رواه البخاري

Translation: 313. Narrated Abdul-Rahman ibn Samora: " The Prophet said: " O Abdul-Rahman ibn Samora! Do not seek to be a ruler, because if you are given authority on asking for it, then you will be held responsible for it, but if you are given it without asking for it, then you will be helped in it (by Allah). And whenever you take an oath to do something and later you find that something else is better than the first, then do the better one and expiate for your oath. " (Bukhari)

Hadith 314: Hadith 314

٣١٤ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة رَضِيَ اللَّهُ ) . عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيََََُُِِّّّّّّّّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : : ( إِنَََََّّّّّْكُمْ سَتَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى الإِمَارَةِ ، وَسَتَكُونُ نَدَامَةً . يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، فَنِعَمٍّ المُرْضِعَةُ وَبِئْسَتِ الْفَاطِمَةُ ) . رواه البخاري

Translation: 314. Narrated Abu-Hurairamay Allah be pleased with them ' The Prophet said: " You will be keen to have the authority of ruling which will be a thing of regret for you on the Day of Resurrection. What an excellent wet nurse it is, yet what a bad weaner it is! " (Bukhari)
