Chapter 275: About the Forbiddance of Twig

Chapter Introduction

٢٧٥ باب تحريم وصل الشعر والوشم والوشر

Translation: Allah said:

الْقُرْآنُ الْكَرِيمُسُورَةُ النِّسَاءِ (4:116-117)
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَالًا بَعِيدًا (116) إِن يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ إِلَّا إِنَاثًا وَإِن يَدْعُونَ إِلَّا شَيْطَانًا مَّرِيدًا
( سُورَةُ النِّسَاءِ (4:116-117) )

Translation: " They (all those who worship others besides Allah) invoke nothing but female deities besides Him (Allah), and they invoke nothing but Satan, the persistent rebel * Allah cursed him (Allah has driven him out of His mercy). And he (Satan) said: " I will take an appointed portion of your servants *** S: 4-116,117.

Translation: The Messenger opf Allah said:

Hadith 922: Hadith 922

٩٢٢ - حديث أَسْمَاءَ ، قَالَتْ : سَأَلَتِ امْرَأَةٍ النبي صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنْ ابْنَتِي أَصَابَتْهَا الْحَصْبَةُ فَامْرَقَ شَعْرُهَا ، وَإِنِّي زَوَجْتُهَا أَفَأَصِلُ فِيهِ فَقَالَ : لَعَنَ اللَّهِ الْوَاصِلَةَ وَالٍمَوْصولَةَ أخرجه البخاري

Translation: 922. Narrated Asma'a; ' A woman asked the Prophet; ' O Allah's Messenger! My daughter got measles and her hair fell out. Now that I am About to give her in marriage, may I let her use false hair? The Prophet ﷺ said: " Allah has cursed the woman who lengthens hair artificially and the one who gets her hair lengthened aritficially. " (Bukhari).

۹۲۳ - حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدٌ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمِنْ أنه سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بِالْمَدِينَة يَخْطُبُ يَقُولُ أَيٌُّّنَ عَلَمَاؤُكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَة إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ هَذِهِ الْقُصَّةِ وَيَقُولُ إِنَّمَا هَلَكَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَهَا نِسَاؤُهُمْ قَالَ : أَبو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهِ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةً

Translation: 923. Homayd ibn Abdul-Rahman said that he has heard Mu'aweya addressing the people of Madina; ' Where are your people of knowledge people of Madina? I have heard the Messenger of Allah forbidding taking Al Qossah 14. He said: The Children of Israel perished when their women had taken it. "

Translation: 14 Al-Qossa is a lock of hair that is let down on the woman's face. It means also the wig that women use. The scholars say that there is no harm if the woman lengthened her hair with anything other than hair i.e. a threads of silk... etc.

Hadith 924: Hadith 924

٩٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنََّّ النَّبِيََََُُِِّّّّّّّّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَعَنَ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالٍمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ والْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ مُبْتَغِيَاتِ لِلْحُسَسْنِ مُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ قَالَ : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ وَغَيْرُ وَاحد من الأئمة عَنْ مَنْصُو

Translation: 924 Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'oud; ' The Prophet invoked Allah's curse on Al Washimat and Al Mostawshimat 15. 9 Al Motanammisat who search to beautify themselves and change what Allah has created. "

٩٢٥- حديث عَبْد الله بن مَسْعُود قَالَ : لَعَنَ اللهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ ، وَالْمُوتَشمَاتِ ، وَالْمُتَنَمَصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلَجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهُ ) . فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي أسد ، يُقَالُ لَهَا أَمْ يَعْقُوب فَجَاءَتْ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنََّّكَ لَعَنْتَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ فَقَالَ : وَمَا لِي لَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُوَلَاللهِ ، وَمَنْ هُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ فَقَالَتْ : : قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللُّوْحَيْن فَمَا وَجَدْتُ فيه مَا تَقُولُ فَقَالَ : لَئِنْ كُنْت قَرَأْتِيهِ ، لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيه أَمَا قَرَأْتِ وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ ، وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا ( قَالَتْ : بَلَى قَالَ : فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ نَهى عَنْهُ قَالَتْ : فَإِنِّي أَرَى أَهْلَكَ يَفْعَلُونَهُ قَالَ : فَاذْه ذهبي ، فَانظُرِي فَذَهَبَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ ، فَلَمْ تَرَ مِنْ حَاجَتِهَا شَيْئًا فَقَالَ : لَوْ كَانَتْ كَذَلِكَ مَا جَامَعَتْنَا أخرجه البخاري

Translation: 925. Homayd ibn Abdul-Rahman narrated that he heard Mu'aweya ibn Abu-Sofyan may Allah be pleased with themon the pulpit in the year when he performed Hajj holding a tuft of hair and saying; " O people of Madina! Where are your learned 15 Al-Washimat is the plural of Al-Washima and Al-Mostawshimat is the plural of Al Mostawshimah. Al Motanammisat is the plural of Al-Motanammisa. Al-Motanammisa is the woman who removes the facial hair and thins the eyebrows.

Translation: men? I heard the Prophet forbidding such a thing as this (the false hair). The Messenger of Allah said: " The Children of Israel were destroyed when their women practiced this habit (of using false hair to lengthen their locks). (Bukhari).
